This award is given to the male and female players who are thought to show the most ability. The award criteria are now set to only cater for players who are new to the sport (one or two seasons experience) and not just new to the club. The Most Promising Female award is named after Joanne Mitchell, a legend of the sport in South Australia, while the Most Promising Male award is named after Gary Williamson, a life member of the club, who made significant contributions to the club as a coach.
